Determining Your Eligibility

CCC offers a variety of federal, state, and private financial aid programs to assist students who need financial assistance. Students are encouraged to apply for aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In addition to the FAFSA, the following criteria are considered:
  • Basic Student Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for federal financial aid you must meet the criteria listed in the next section.
  • Special or Unusual Circumstances [NEEDS LINK TO PAGE]: Your federal financial aid eligibility is based on all the information submitted on your FAFSA. CCC provides an opportunity to reconsider your eligibility based on changes in income or family circumstances.
  • Student Verification Process [NEEDS LINK TO PAGE]: Students selected for verification must submit documentation to confirm the accuracy of the information provided on their FAFSA.
  • Eligible Programs & Courses [NEEDS LINK TO PAGE]: Federal regulations require a student seeking federal financial aid to be enrolled in an eligible certificate or degree program.
  • Program of Study: Federal regulations require that an institution award federal financial aid only for classes applicable to the student’s declared degree or certificate.

Basic Student Eligibility Criteria

The requirements for you to recieve financial aid are that you must:

  • Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using CCC’s school code 031004
  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen with a valid Social Security number.
  • Have a high school diploma or a state-recognized equivalent such as a General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • Be admitted and currently working toward an eligible CCC degree or certificate.
  • Have not reached your lifetime limit for the Pell Grant.
  • Be enrolled for the minimum credit hours required based on the type of financial aid awarded.
  • Provide any requested documentation.
  • Meet CCC's satisfactory academic progress policy.
  • Not recieve federal student aid at another institution within the same payment period.
  • Demonstrate financial need for need-based federal student aid programs.

FAFSA certification

Upon signing the FAFSA, students certify that they:

  • Will use federal and/or state student financial aid only to pay the cost of attending an institution of higher education,
  • Are not in default on a federal student loan or have made satisfactory arrangements to repay it,
  • Do not owe money back on a federal student grant or have made satisfactory arrangements to repay it,
  • Will notify CCC if they default on a federal student loan, and
  • Will not receive a Federal Pell Grant from more than one college for the same period of time.
Upon signing the FAFSA, students and parents certify that all of the information they provided is true and complete to the best of their knowledge and they agree, if asked, to provide information that will verify the accuracy of their completed application. This information may include U.S. or state income tax forms that they filed or are required to file. Also, they certify that they understand that the Secretary of Education has the authority to verify information reported on the FAFSA with the Internal Revenue Service and other federal agencies. If they electronically sign any document related to the federal student aid programs using an FSA ID (username and password) and/or any other credential, they certify that they are the person identified by that username and password and/or other credential, and have not given that username and password and/or other credential to anyone else to use. If they purposely give false or misleading information, they may be fined up to $20,000, sent to prison, or both.
