CCC’s free Adult Education classes can help you prepare for a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSE), often called a GED, or improve your English. Build skills for work, college, and everyday life with help from teachers who want you to succeed. New students can join throughout the year—you do not have to wait until fall.

Why Choose Adult Education at CCC?

CCC’s Adult Education programs are free, flexible, and open year-round.

  • Both HSE and English Second Language are free for eligible Coconino County residents
  • Open to adults 16 years and older who are legally present in the United States 
  • Offered in-person at CCC’s Fourth Street Campus in Flagstaff
  • Virtual options available via Zoom throughout Coconino County 
  • New sessions begin quarterly throughout the year
  • Personalized study plans available, including one-on-one tutoring
  • Completing either program may qualify you for a Tuition Assistance Grant for future CCC college classes.

High School Equivalency (GED)

If you did not finish high school and want to earn a High School Equivalency Diploma, CCC’s GED Prep program can help you get there. Study plans are personalized to meet you where you are, and the program offers one-on-one tutoring, in-person classes, virtual instruction via Zoom, and independent online study options.

CCC also offers free Official GED Practice Tests and opportunities to have the GED exam fully funded for eligible students. [<-Is this still true?] CCC’s GED Prep program helps adults build the reading, writing, math, science, and social studies skills needed to prepare for the GED exam.

High School Equivalence (GED)

English as a Second Language (ESL)

CCC’s ESL program offers free English language classes for adults who want to improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Classes are welcoming and help you build confidence in English for daily life, work, and future education.

New students can start throughout the year. You do not need to speak any English to get started. CCC’s ESL program begins at the True Beginner level. You will take a test to decide your English level.

Adult Education is often the first step toward new opportunities. Many students who graduate:

  • Go to college, including CCC
  • Explore workforce training programs
  • Improve job opportunities
  • Build confidence and independence in everyday life

CCC also offers a tuition assistance grant for eligible Adult Education students who complete the program. This can help you go to college by covering some of the cost of your classes.
