High School Equivalency - GED

Earning your high school equivalency diploma opens doors. It can lead to a better job, a college education, and the confidence that comes from finishing something important.

CCC’s GED Preparation program is free, flexible, and designed to meet you where you are. Don’t worry if you’ve been out of school for a few years or a few decades. Our teachers work with you to build the skills you need to pass the GED exam.

To earn your High School Equivalency Diploma, you need to pass tests in:

• Reasoning Through Language Arts
• Mathematical Reasoning
• Science
• Social Studies
• Arizona Civics Test

Arizona offers three pathways to earning a High School Equivalency Diploma. All three require passing the Arizona Civics Test.

• GED Test Pathway: Pass four subject area tests covering Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies, along with the Arizona Civics Test.
• HSE Plus Career Readiness Pathway: Demonstrate academic and career readiness through a combination of documented achievements and activities while enrolled in an eligible Adult Education program.
• College Credit Pathway: Earn 25 college credits at the 100-course level or above with a grade of C or higher, along with the Arizona Civics Test.

Classes are free for Coconino County residents ages 16 and older and are available in multiple formats to fit your schedule and location:

• In person at CCC’s Flagstaff and Page campuses
• Virtual via Zoom for learners across Coconino County
• Online at your own pace through independent study

GED Prep classes run on a quarterly schedule throughout the year. 

Upcoming terms:

• October 26 – December 18, 2026

• January 4 – March 5, 2027

• March 22 – May 7, 2027

To register for the GED-Prep program please complete these steps:

1. Complete Registration Screening Form
2. Verify your ID (come in person to CCC Fourth Street or schedule a quick Zoom meeting)
3. Schedule Placement Testing
4. Attend a Goal-Setting Appointment

If you are under 18 years old, there are two additional registration steps:

1. Obtain a Withdrawal Form from the last public school you were enrolled in.
   • Students under 18 cannot be enrolled into our program without this form.
   • If homeschooled, parents/guardians should provide a letter stating the student is no longer being homeschooled and is not enrolled in a public school.
2. Complete the GED Parental Permission Form (notarization required).

A hard copy of both the Withdrawal and Parental Permission forms must be submitted to NAU’s Testing Center. Students under 18 without this completed form will not be able to schedule GED exams. [Is this for registration or just the test?]

If you have previously registered for Adult Education at CCC, complete the Adult Education Registration Online Form to update your program registration.

After the form has been submitted, you will receive an email with your next steps.

In Arizona, each GED subject test costs $41. There are four subject tests, so the total cost is $164 if you pass each test on your first try.

The Arizona Civics Test costs $9 per attempt. If you need to take all four GED tests and the Civics Test, the total cost is $173.

You do not have to pay for all the tests at once. You can schedule and pay for each test separately through GED.com.

Test fees are set through the GED testing system and may change. Check GED.com for the current price when you schedule your test.
