Earning your high school equivalency diploma opens doors. It can lead to a better job, a college education, or simply the confidence that comes from finishing something important.
Classes are available in person at the Fourth Street Campus in Flagstaff, virtually via Zoom, and through independent online lessons throughout Coconino County.
GED-Prep Classes
Earning your High School Equivalency Diploma is within reach. CCC offers free GED Prep classes that help you build the skills you need to pass the exam and open new doors, whether that means a better job, college coursework, or a goal you've been working toward for a long time.

Learn In-Person or Online
Classes are free for Coconino County residents ages 16 and older and are available in multiple formats to fit your schedule and location:
- In person at CCC’s Flagstaff and Page campuses
- Virtual via Zoom for learners across Coconino County
- Online through independent study options for students who need maximum flexibility.

GED Prep classes run on a quarterly schedule throughout the year. Contact the Adult Education office for current session start dates and registration deadlines.
How to Register
To register for the GED-Prep program please complete these steps:
- Complete Registration Screening Form
- Verify your ID (come in person to CCC Fourth Street or schedule a quick Zoom meeting)
- Schedule Placement Testing
- Attending Goal-Setting Appointment
Students Under 18 years old
- Obtain a Withdrawal Form from the last public school you were enrolled in.
- Students under 18 cannot be enrolled into our program without this form.
- If home schooled, parents/guardians should provide a letter stating the student is no longer being home schooled and is not enrolled in a public school.
- Complete the GED Parental Permission Form (notarization required).
If you are under 18 years old, there are two additional registration steps:
A hard copy of both the Withdrawal and Parental Permission forms must be submitted to NAU’s Testing Center. Students under 18 without this completed form will not be able to schedule GED exams.
Returning Program Students
If you have previously registered for Adult Education at CCC, complete the Adult Education Registration Online Form to update your program registration.
After the form has been submitted you will receive an email with your next steps.

Is the GED Prep program free?
Yes. CCC’s GED Prep program is free for Coconino County residents who are at least 16 years old and legally present in the United States.
What are the three ways to earn a High School Equivalency Diploma in Arizona?
Arizona offers three pathways to earning a High School Equivalency Diploma. All three require passing the Arizona Civics Test.
GED Test Pathway Pass four subject area tests covering Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies, along with the Arizona Civics Test.
HSE Plus Career Readiness Pathway Demonstrate academic and career readiness through a combination of documented achievements and activities while enrolled in an eligible Adult Education program.
College Credit Pathway Earn 25 college credits at the 100-course level or above with a grade of C or higher, along with the Arizona Civics Test.

What if my placement test scores are already high enough to pass the GED?
If your scores suggest you may be ready, you will discuss your results with an Adult Education team member during your goal-setting appointment. You may be eligible for a free GED Ready Practice Test, which measures your likelihood of passing the actual exam. Students who pass the GED Ready Practice Test are strongly encouraged to schedule their GED exam right away.
Is the GED exam itself free?
CCC offers opportunities to have the GED exam fully funded for eligible students. Ask your Adult Education advisor about exam funding options when you complete your registration.
What if I am under 18?
Students under 18 may enroll but must complete two additional steps before registering:
- Obtain a Withdrawal Form from the last public school you attended. If you were homeschooled, a parent or guardian must provide a letter confirming you are no longer enrolled.
- Complete a GED Parental Permission Form, which requires notarization.
What comes after earning my High School Equivalency Diploma?
Many students continue into college coursework at CCC, career training programs, or employment opportunities. Eligible students who complete the GED through CCC’s Adult Education program may qualify for a Tuition Assistance Grant to help cover the cost of their first college course.
