Holds on Registration

• What are registration holds?

  A hold is a restriction that is placed on student records that can prevent enrollment, release of transcripts, release of diplomas, release of financial aid, refunds, and other services. Each hold is placed by a department and released once the hold requirement is resolved.

  There are a few types of holds you may see on your student account:

  Admissions Hold: You are missing a required step or official document to finalize your admission or proceed to the next registration period. Common examples include missing final high school or college transcripts or a residency verification.

  Accounts Receivable Hold: You have a restriction on your student account due to an outstanding or overdue financial balance.

Priority Registration

• What is priority registration?

  Priority registration is an early enrollment window that allows eligible students to sign up for classes before the general public. It is designed to reward academic progress and help students secure the specific schedules, required courses, and prerequisite sequences needed to graduate or transfer on time.

Add, drop, or withdraw

  What is the impact of dropping or withdrawing from a class?
  You as a student are solely responsible for the tuition and fees of your courses. If you drop or withdraw from a course after the refund period, you will be charged the full amount of the course. CCC does not offer a prorated refund.

Satisfactory AcademiC Progress (SAP)

• What is SAP?

  SAP is a federal regulation requiring colleges to monitor whether you as a student are successfully passing your classes and staying on track to graduate. You must meet these standards to maintain eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid including grants, loans, and scholarships.

  • Grade Point Average (GPA): You must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Pace of Completion: You must complete a minimum percentage of the credit hours you attempt, at least 67%. For example, if a student attempts15 credits in a semester, theymust pass and earn credit for at least 10 of them.
  • Maximum Timeframe: You must complete your degree within a reasonable timeframe, which is limited to 150% of the published length of your program.

Auditing a Class

• What does auditing a class mean?

  Attending a class to learn the material without credit. The course will still be on a students’ transcript, but will not affect their GPA. In a class audit, students do not take exams.

  To audit a class, you must first enroll, register for the class, and get instructor approval. Submit a signed Audit form to the Admissions & Enrollment Services Office before the open registration add/drop deadline. Audited classes require regular tuition plus a $25 per credit-hour fee.

  Pros and cons of auditing a class:

  Pros: The class is not graded and is great for hobbyists.

  Cons: Financial aid like grants and loans may not cover an audited class. The class does not count toward degree progression. Auditing a class does include an extra fee on top of tuition.
