Coco The Comet
Coco the Comet brings CCC spirit wherever Comets gather. Short for Coconino, Coco represents the energy, determination, and pride of CCC students, student-athletes, employees, and alumni.
The idea for Coco began in 2008, with the current version developed in 2018. CCC’s Cross Country team introduced the comet mascot in 2020, and in March 2024, Coco became CCC’s official costumed mascot. Today, Coco represents all CCC students, as well as Comets athletics.
From campus events to athletic competitions and community celebrations, Coco helps bring people together and celebrate the students, employees, and communities that make up Coconino County.

Cool Things about COCO
Coco may be from high altitude, but CCC is home. Short for Coconino, Coco represents CCC students, Comets athletics, and the pride that connects our college community.
Coco’s favorites:
- Food: Astronaut ice cream, Dippin’ Dots, and fry bread
- Colors: Teal, blue, and orange
- Movies: WALL-E, Interstellar, and Armageddon
- Places to visit: Lowell Observatory, Meteor Crater, the Fourth Street Campus, and the Page Center
- Height: 6 feet-ish
- Signature move: Bringing Comet spirit wherever CCC shows up
And if you are not sure how to spot Coco, just remember: a comet is known for its fuzzy head, eccentric orbit, icy makeup, and long tail when it gets close to the sun. For Coco, that translates to a teal-and-blue look, a highly unusual earthside orbit, a gold cape, and, of course, sunglasses.
