Do You Qualify?
To participate in TRIO SSS, you must meet all of the following:
Step 1: Residency (required) You must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident.
Step 2: At least one of the following (required)
- First-generation college student: Neither of your parents or legal guardians has earned a four-year college degree
- Low-income student: Your household income meets federal low-income guidelines
- Student with a documented disability: You are registered with CCC’s Disability Resources Office
Program selection is based on your completed application and available space. Not sure if you qualify? Fill out the Interest Form and an advisor will reach out to you.
What TRIO Offers
TRIO SSS is free. Every service listed here is available to accepted students at no cost.
Academic Support
- Tutoring: Free tutoring is available for many CCC courses, in person and virtually. Use the Nimbus app to find a TRIO tutor and book your session. Sessions can be held in person or online. Log in with your CCC username and password, select the TRIO service, and search for your course.
- Study skills assistance: One-on-one and workshop-based support for note-taking, textbook reading, time management, and test preparation.
Advising and Planning
- Dedicated TRIO advisor: Your TRIO advisor is different from your academic advisor. See the FAQ section below for more on how they work together.
- Financial aid and scholarship assistance: Help navigating financial aid applications and identifying scholarship opportunities.
- Transfer support: Guidance and resources for students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university.
Materials and Resources
- Loan program: Borrow laptops, calculators, books, and more through the TRIO Loan Request Form.
