Supporting Indigenous Student Success at CCC

The Native American Success Center (NASC) at Coconino Community College provides academic, cultural, and personal support for Native American and Alaska Native students. The Center serves as a welcoming space where students can access resources, connect with peers and mentors, and receive guidance as they navigate their college journey.

As part of CCC’s Strengthening Indigenous Student Success (SISS) program, NASC helps students transition into college, persist through their programs, and move confidently toward their educational and career goals.

How NASC Supports Students

Academic and Transition Support

NASC provides services designed to help students succeed both inside and outside the classroom, including:

  • Academic advising and career guidance
  • Tutoring and academic skill support
  • Help navigating college systems and resources
  • Support during the transition from home to the college community

Cultural and Community Connection

The Center promotes cultural identity, belonging, and community by:

  • Providing a welcoming space for connection and study
  • Supporting Indigenous, Native American, American Indian, and Alaska Native cultures
  • Encouraging peer connection and mentoring
  • Hosting and supporting diversity and inclusion programming

Native American Peer Mentoring

Through the Strengthening Indigenous Student Success program, NASC offers one‑on‑one peer mentoring. Native American Peer Mentors work closely with students to help them:

  • Navigate the college environment
  • Build confidence and academic momentum
  • Connect with campus resources
  • Develop strategies for persistence and success

Tutoring and Academic Support

CCC partners with Nimbus Learning to provide tutoring support for students. NASC students can access:

  • Drop‑in tutoring services
  • Online and mobile access to tutoring schedules
  • Additional tutoring through TRIO programs where applicable
  • On‑site tutoring support through the Strengthening Indigenous Student Success program at Flagstaff and Page campuses

NASC Locations

Coconino Community College offers two Native American Success Center locations to support students across the region:

  • Lone Tree Campus – Flagstaff
  • CCC Page Campus – Page, Arizona

Each location provides dedicated space for studying, meeting with staff, tutoring, and building community.

NASC Staff

NASC services are supported by CCC staff dedicated to Indigenous student success, advising, retention, tutoring, and career development. Staff members are available at both the Lone Tree and Page campuses to meet with students and connect them to resources.
