CCC's Fine Arts program gives you the technical foundation and creative confidence to pursue a career as an artist, continue your education at a four-year university, or bring a creative perspective to whatever field you enter.

Fine Arts at CCC is a transfer degree, meaning the coursework you complete here counts toward a bachelor's degree at any Arizona public university. You'll build skills in studio practice, visual thinking, and creative problem-solving while developing a body of work that reflects your artistic voice.

Program Options

Associate of Fine Arts: Visual Arts (AFA)
The Associate of Fine Arts in Visual Arts is a transfer degree designed for students planning to continue their education at a four-year university. You’ll build a strong technical foundation, develop your artistic voice, and complete coursework that applies toward a bachelor’s degree at any Arizona public university.

This program is a good fit if you:

Plan to transfer to a university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in fine arts or a related field
Want a structured academic program with a clear transfer pathway
Are building a portfolio and developing your skills as a visual artist

Fine Arts Electives

Fine Arts electives are open to any student who wants to explore studio art, develop creative skills, or simply enjoy making something.

What Can I Do within Fine arts?

Do I need to know sign language to get started?
No prior experience is required to begin. You can start with ASL 101, which is open to beginners. Placement requirements vary, so check with an advisor to find the right starting point for your skill level.
What is the difference between the AA degree and the certificate?
The AA degree takes about two years and requires 60 credits. The certificate is a shorter option at 40 credits and covers the core interpreting courses. Both programs prepare you for a career working with the Deaf community. The certificate is also aligned with the AA degree, so credits can count toward the full degree if you decide to continue.
Are there admission requirements for the interpreting program?
Yes. To be admitted to the interpreting track, you need to demonstrate fourth-semester proficiency in ASL and be enrolled in or have completed ASL 203, ASL 110, and ITP 210. You will also need to complete a questionnaire and a preliminary assessment of your signing skills.
