BetterMYND Counseling
Free, Confidential Therapy for Students
You do not need insurance. You do not need to come to campus. You just need a phone, tablet, or laptop and a few minutes to get started.
What Bettermynd Offers
Individual Counseling Sessions
50-minute, one-on-one video sessions with a licensed therapist of your choice. Sessions are available during the day, evenings, and weekends, including over school breaks.
Wellbeing Workshops
Live, online group workshops led by licensed counselors on topics like academic stress, anxiety, relationships, depression, and emotional wellness. Workshops are available throughout the month and are open to all CCC students.
24/7 Support Line
Need to talk right now? BetterMynd offers an on-demand support line available any time of day or night, year-round. All calls are answered by a Master’s-level behavioral health clinician trained in crisis support.
How To get started
Getting started takes less than five minutes:
- Go to bettermynd.com or download the BetterMynd app
- Register using your CCC student email address
- Complete a brief intake survey to help match you with the right counselor
- Browse counselor profiles and choose the one that feels right for you
- Schedule your first session at a time that works for you
Your sessions are private, secure, and HIPAA-compliant. No one at CCC will know you are using the service unless you choose to share that information.
Choosing your counselor
BetterMynd’s counselor network includes licensed mental health professionals in all 50 states. Every counselor has at minimum a Master’s-level education and experience working with college students.
You can browse and filter counselors based on:
- Demographics and cultural background
- Identity and lived experiences
- Specialties and areas of focus
- Availability and scheduling preferences
If your first counselor is not the right fit, you can choose a different one at any time, no explanation needed.
What counseling can help with
BetterMynd counselors support students with a wide range of concerns, including:
- Stress, anxiety, and burnout
- Depression and low motivation
- Academic pressure and transitions
- Relationship and family challenges
- Identity-related concerns
- Grief and loss
- Adjustment to college life
If you are not sure whether your concern is “big enough” for counseling, it is. You do not have to be in crisis to reach out.
What to expect at your first session
Your counselor will spend your first session getting to know you. They will ask questions about what brought you in and what you are hoping to feel or experience differently. This is also your opportunity to see whether this counselor is a good fit for you.
A few tips before your first session:
- Find a private, quiet space where you feel comfortable
- Make sure your device is charged and connected to the internet
- Set up your camera in a well-lit area so your counselor can see you
- It can help to jot down a few notes about what you want to talk about, but it is not required
