Using Your Accommodations Each Semester

Accommodations are not applied automatically. Each semester you choose to use your accommodations, you need to activate them.

Step 1: Request Your Accommodations for the Semester

At the start of each semester, submit your request to activate your accommodations. Do this early to avoid delays.

Step 2: Share Your Letter of Accommodation

After your request is processed, you will receive your Letter of Accommodation. You are responsible for sharing this letter with your instructors by email or in person. If you need help, Disability Resources can assist you.

Step 3: Talk With Your Instructor

You are encouraged to connect with your instructor to discuss how your accommodations will work in each class. Keep this conversation private not during class time. Talking with your instructor early helps clarify expectations and ensures your accommodations are in place from the start.

Testing and Exams

If you have testing accommodations — such as extended time or reduced distraction testing:

  • Follow DR procedures for scheduling your exam
  • Submit your request within the required timeframe
  • Confirm details with both your instructor and DR
