CCC’s allied health programs combine classroom instruction with hands-on clinical training to prepare you for the realities of working in a healthcare environment. Depending on your program, coursework may cover:
Transfer options for allied health workforce degrees and certificates are limited, as these programs are designed to move you directly into the workforce. However, some coursework, particularly science prerequisites such as Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, and Chemistry, may transfer toward a bachelor’s degree in a health science field. If transfer is part of your long-term plan, speak with an academic advisor before enrolling to make sure your coursework aligns with your goals.
It depends on the program you choose. Certificate programs such as the Certified Nursing Assistant and Medical Assisting can often be completed in a semester or two, while Associate of Applied Science degrees typically take two years. Allied health workforce degrees and certificates are designed to move you directly into a career rather than toward a four-year university. No prior healthcare experience is required for most allied health programs at CCC. Programs are designed to build your skills and knowledge from the ground up. However, some programs, such as Nursing, have specific admission requirements that must be completed before applying. Contact an advisor or program coordinator to confirm what is required for your chosen pathway.
The Nursing program has a separate application process from general CCC enrollment. Before applying, you must complete all required prerequisite courses with a grade of C or higher, including English Composition, Math, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, and Fundamental Chemistry. You will also need a minimum 3.0 GPA in prerequisite courses, a passing score on the NLN nursing entrance exam, an Arizona CNA or LNA license, and a Level 1 Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card.
